Footpedal
Ever sat down ready to play, iPad on the stand, and realized you forgot your foot pedal, or it ran out of battery? Imagine being back in action in 30 seconds by using your phone instead! Footpedal is an iOS app that connects you your iPhone to your iPad with MIDI events, allowing you to turn pages by tapping your iPhone.
Privacy Policy
*Last updated: May 12, 2026**
Footpedal ("the app") is developed by Jeremy Black / East End Violin Studio.
Summary
Footpedal does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no network connectivity of any kind.
Data Collected
**None.** The app does not collect any data about you or your device.
Permissions Used
Motion & Fitness (Accelerometer)
The app uses your iPhone's accelerometer to detect foot taps. This sensor data is processed entirely on-device in real time to produce MIDI control signals. It is never stored to disk, never shared with any third party, and is discarded immediately after each tap detection cycle.
Bluetooth
The app uses Bluetooth to advertise itself as a MIDI peripheral so that a nearby iPad can connect to it and receive page-turn commands. The app operates in **peripheral mode only** — it does not scan for other Bluetooth devices, does not collect any identifiers from connecting devices, and does not transmit any personal information over Bluetooth. The only data sent over Bluetooth is standard MIDI control-change messages (two bytes of musical control data).
Third-Party Services
None. The app makes no network requests and integrates no third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks, or advertising systems.
Children's Privacy
The app does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If the app's data practices change in a future version, this policy will be updated and a new "Last updated" date will be shown above.
